Just because you say you're not racist doesn't excuse you from dropping a couple of racist jokes. I don't like hearing them and I don't like partaking in them. Calling an Arabian a rag-head is racist. Sliding jokes in about how that guy is black is racist.
One of the main reasons racism is not gone in America is because people let that slide so easily. Sure there are several other factors that play into it, but allowing someone to make a racist joke and not say a word about it... shame on who sad it, and shame on you for not telling them off.
I'm sick of sitting on my hands. I'm sick of keeping my mouth shut.
Skin doesn't matter. Race is irrelevant. Our skin pigments only changed because our ancestors moved to different climates. Every human is the same. Skin is irrelevant.

The more and more I get involved in politics, the more and more I see what needs to change. Jean and I are going to get involved. We're applying for internships for the Barack Obama campaign. I'm not doing this because it's going to look good on my resume (especially if he wins) I'm doing this because I'm passionate about getting the word out about Obama/Biden and how much better he will be for our country than McSame and Gov Palin. If we can get people interested down here, I feel like we can help him get the white house.
Watching Palin's speech last night I felt really angry. Not only is this entire convention about promoting McCain being a POW (and since when did that automatically mean you are qualified to run this country?) and attacking Obama. She completely dissed community organizers. How can she call herself a Republican, Let alone an American, if she believes community organizers are worthless, that ordinary people (LIKE HERSELF) cannot run for President.
Community Organizers:
Samual Adams and John Hancock (Boston Tea Party)
Paul Revere (One if by land, two if by sea)
Abigail Adams and Mercy Otis Warren (the first women of, "republican motherhood")
Our Founding Fathers!!!
Harriet Tubman (freedom Train)
Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Lucretia Mott and Susan B. Anthony (Womens Sufferage)
Samuel Gompers (American Labour Movement)
Martin Luther King (Civil Rights)
Medgar Evers (Civil Rights)
She seriously thinks that community organizers are worthless, a joke? Our country would not be here without community organizers.
And to top it off, the simple minded Republicans in the audience CHEERED and LAUGHED about her saying that. Her idea of what constitutes fighting for American is taking up arms, not doing what social workers or community organizers are doing. They are fighting in the trenches to make their communities better and thus to make this country a better place.
Also,
How can she say she is an advocate for woman's rights when she is completely anti-choice? She is against Roe Vs Wade and wants to get rid of abortion. Even for those women who are raped, impregnated by incest, or even if the baby is harmful and would kill the woman and baby if she deliveries it... I believe that abortion is wrong, I would never do it to myself, but I will NEVER tell a woman she cannot decide this for herself. We have fought so hard for the rights we have now... get rid of this will open the door for other rights to be taken away.
Get the facts!

Today I picked up a book of Charles Bukowski's poetry. I know nothing about Charles Bukowski. Sometimes I will stumble across one of his works, but beyond that, I know nothing. So I picked up one of his books (Love Is a Dog from Hell) and I turned to a random page. Here is the poem I found,
the night I fucked my alarm clock
once
starving in Philadelphia
I had a small room
it was evening going into night
and I stood at my window on the 3rd floor
in the dark and looked down into a
kitchen across the way on the 2nd floor
and I saw a beautiful blonde girl
embrace a young man there and kiss him
with what seemed hunger
and I stood and watched them until the broke
away.
then I turned and switched on the room light.
I saw my dresser and my dresser drawers
and my alarm clock on the dresser.
I took my alarm clock
to bed with me and
fucked it until the hands dropped off.
then I went out and walked the streets
until my feet blistered.
when I got back I walked to the window
and looked down and across the way
and the light in their kitchen was
out.
so i bought it. (well, stef did actually. birthday gift. :]) i also bought his novel Post Office.
i'm exhausted.
and guess what
i turn nineteen tomorrow.

There is this man that comes into Socio's every now and then when I happen to be working. i didn't have a problem with him at first, but he gets increasingly sexual each time. My manager told me that this is the same guy that use to leave a waitress who worked in 01-02 his number and draw pictures for her on a napkin. She was only 16. I really hope it doesn't get to that point.
I am developing feelings for someone who is getting married. This isn't good. :/ I'm hoping this is a passing fancy and will be over within the week. He's getting married god sake!
I am hopeless in the relationship department.
It doesn't bother me as much as it used to.
Eleven days until I turn nineteen? Woooo...

in my dreams, I went shopping in a sleeve shop. That's right, a place that sells any kind of sleeve imaginable--book sleeves, album sleeves, shirt sleeves, and jacket sleeves. They had antique sleeves, vintage sleeves, priceless sleeves, pricey sleeves, sleeves worn by famous people, sleeves made for famous people, sleeves signed by famous people, sleeves that are one of a kind, pictures of sleeves... you get the idea. I remember talking to the owner. I asked him where the books went, where the albums went... What happened to the shirts? He told me that they no longer existed. Books are now on computers. Albums are all digital. People didn't wear shirts anymore, all they wear are tunics. There was no need for jackets because the sun was expanding and the earth was getting hotter. Florida didn't even exist. It was like Atlantis. The lost state of Florida where the fountain of youth has been buried at sea.

lots of good things are going to happen this year. i can feel it.
